LASIK

LASIK is the most commonly performed refractive surgery procedure used today to reduce or eliminate the use of glasses or contact lenses. During LASIK the surgeon first creates a thin corneal flap using a device called a microkeratome. The corneal flap is lifted up, and the laser beam is applied to the exposed interior surface of the cornea to reshape the tissue. The flap is then replaced over the treated area. This corneal flap serves as a natural bandage, and allows vision to improve more rapidly.

A PERSONAL NOTE FROM THE DOCTORS AT SPINDEL EYE ASSOCIATES

Dear Patient,

Congratulations! By deciding to view our website about Laser Vision Correction and CK, you have taken the first exciting step towards improving your vision and eliminating your dependence on glasses or contact lenses.

We are very proud of our Vision Correction program and of the excellent results we have obtained. The overwhelming majority of our patients have been satisfied. Over 98% said that they would recommend it to their friends and family. We know this is true because most of our new patients are referred by existing patients.

Many patients ask whether they should have Vision Correction. We simply tell them that while this is an elective procedure, it can almost be a matter of necessity for people who do not see well without glasses. If you are an individual who can’t get up in the middle of the night and get outof bed without putting on your glasses, you realize the sense of frustration this can bring on.Laser Vision Correction and CK open up many new opportunities to participate in sports and other activities without the hassle of contact lenses. Just imagine the excitement of passing your drivers test without glasses or contact lenses. We see this excitement in the smiles of our patients who have undergone Vision Correction.

The information on this site will certainly give you a headstart towards making your decision. But to feel really comfortable, we will need to personally talk about your eyes. To do this you will need to call or e-mail our office to schedule a complimentary Laser Vision Correction evaluation, or you may reserve a seat at one of our educational seminars.

We look forward to meeting you and assisting you in your decision of whether to have Laser Vision Correction or CK.

Sincerely,

Jerry Spindel, M.D.
Douglas Blair, O.D.
Sarah Durant, O.D.
Peter Mouchlis, O.D.
